Nothing is ever locked, hidden or deleted. A party at the free limit keeps every expense in it and stays fully readable and editable; only adding shared expense number 6, or a second receipt scan, asks for an upgrade.

Create a free party
Create the party and build the whole weekend. Events, RSVPs, guests, and the first 5 shared expenses cost nothing, and nobody is asked for a card.

When the party needs shared expense number 6, or a second receipt scan, the add button offers the Party Pass instead. Everything already in the party stays as it is.

The host, a co-host, or a guest who would rather chip in than watch the maid of honor cover one more thing. It is one payment for the whole party, not one per person.

What counts as a shared expense
Something a member logs to the party ledger to be split. Event costs, closing an event out, and everything in your private ledger never count toward the 5.
What counts as a receipt scan
A scan counts once the receipt has been read. A photo that cannot be read does not use up the free scan, for up to 3 tries in a party. So the reader stays available to everyone, one account can start 10 free scans a day across its free parties. Typing a receipt in by hand is always free.
Nothing is ever locked
A party at the free limit stays fully readable and editable, and nothing in it is hidden or deleted. Only adding another shared expense or receipt scan asks for an upgrade.
If Unlimited ends
Unlimited renews automatically every year, charged to the card on file, until you cancel; we email a reminder before each renewal. Cancel anytime from Plans, then Manage billing, and the plan runs to the end of the year already paid for. After that your parties go back to the free limits, with everything in them intact.
What Unlimited covers
Every party you own, which means every party you created or were handed ownership of. A party you co-host for someone else is covered by her plan or by a Party Pass.
If a party is paid for twice
A Party Pass is non-refundable once it is active, with one exception we make ourselves: if two people pay for the same party, the second payment is refunded. Ask through the feedback link in the app.
Guests never need a card
Joining, RSVPing, seeing your share, and settling up are free for everyone invited. Guests never have to pay: a guest only ever pays if she chooses to buy the Party Pass for the group.

How much does it cost for the host?
Nothing to start. You create the party without a card, and the free tier has no time limit. If the party outgrows 5 shared expenses or 1 receipt scan, there are two ways to unlock it. The Party Pass is $24, paid once, and unlocks that one party forever. Unlimited is $49 a year and unlocks every party you own, which is the better deal if you host more than one. It renews automatically every year, charged to the card on file, until you cancel, and we email a reminder before each renewal. Both are paid on Stripe’s own pages in US dollars, so card details never pass through the app, and the amount shown at checkout is the one that applies. If you were given a code, enter it in the app before checkout and the discount is applied there.
What happens when I hit 5 expenses?
Nothing breaks. The 5 shared expenses already in the party stay exactly where they are, and everyone can still read them, edit them, RSVP, close out events, and settle up. The one thing that changes is that adding shared expense number 6 opens a short upgrade screen instead of the form. It offers the Party Pass and, if you own the party, Unlimited. Event costs, closing an event out, and anything in your private ledger never count toward the 5, so a party that runs mostly on event costs may never get there. Receipt scans work the same way: the first scan in a party is free, and the second one asks. A photo the reader cannot make out does not use up the free scan, for up to 3 tries, and typing a receipt in by hand is always free.
Who pays for the Party Pass?
Whoever offers. Any member of the party can buy it: the host, a co-host, or a guest who would rather chip in $24 than watch the maid of honor cover one more thing. It is one payment for the whole party, not one per person, and once it is paid that party is unlocked for everyone in it, forever. Nobody else is asked for anything, and a guest never needs a card to join, RSVP, or see her share. If two people happen to pay for the same party, the second payment is refunded. If the group wants to split the pass itself, log it as a shared expense like anything else.
What if my yearly plan lapses?
Your parties go back to the free limits, and nothing is deleted. Every expense, receipt, event, and balance stays readable and editable for everyone, and RSVPs, event costs, and settling up keep working. The one thing that pauses is adding new shared expenses or scans in a party that already has 5 or more, until it is unlocked again. Renew Unlimited and everything you own is unlocked at once, or buy a Party Pass for the one party that still needs it, which stays unlocked whether or not you ever subscribe again. Canceling works the same way: Unlimited renews automatically each year until you cancel, so cancel anytime from Plans, then Manage billing, in the app, and the plan runs to the end of the year you already paid for.
